About the app
Is Plantive free to use?
Plantive is free to download from the App Store. Optional Pro subscriptions and lifetime purchases are available in the app; check the current App Store listing for purchase details.
What devices does Plantive support?
Plantive is an iPhone app requiring iOS 17.0 or later. The download is about 15.5 MB. There is currently no Android version. The plant care guides on this website are free and work on any device with no app needed.
What can Plantive identify?
Plants, flowers, trees, leaves, succulents and houseplants. Identification is most accurate on a sharp, well-lit close-up of a distinctive feature, such as a flower or a single leaf against a plain background, rather than a wide shot containing several plants.
How do I cancel a subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us. Open the Settings app on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions, select Plantive and choose Cancel Subscription. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
How do I get a refund?
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find the purchase and request a refund. We cannot issue App Store refunds directly, but do contact us if something went wrong and we will help where we can.
Plant care
How accurate is photo-based plant identification?
Accuracy depends on the plant, the tool and the evidence visible in the photo. A sharp, well-lit close-up of a distinctive flower or leaf can improve the suggestion, while distant photos, several plants in frame and damaged foliage can make it less reliable. Compare the suggested name with other features, especially before making a safety decision.
How often should I water my houseplants?
There is no universal schedule, and following one is the most common cause of houseplant death. Water needs depend on species, pot size and material, light, temperature, humidity and season. Check the soil on a regular schedule instead: push a finger two inches in and water only when that particular plant is ready.
Why do my plants keep dying?
Too much water and too little light are common problems, but pests, temperature, drainage and species-specific needs can look similar. Check the soil before watering, inspect the roots and leaves, and compare the plant’s location with a reliable care reference before choosing a fix.
Can I use Plantive to check if a plant is safe for my pet?
You can identify the species and read its toxicity information, and our pet-safe plants guide covers the common ones. But never rely on an app alone in an emergency. If a pet has eaten part of a plant, call your vet or an animal poison control line immediately and bring the plant or a photo. Do not spend time identifying it yourself first.
How are the care guides sourced?
Guides are maintained by Plantive and are being updated with links to horticultural and botanical references. A page names an author or reviewer only when that attribution has been confirmed. The advice is general horticultural guidance rather than professional or veterinary advice.
Privacy and support
What happens to the photos I take?
Photos are sent for processing so the species can be identified, and are handled according to our privacy policy. See the full policy for details of what is collected, how long it is retained and your rights over it.
How do I contact support?
Email contact@deductify.org and describe the issue, including your iPhone model and iOS version if it is a technical problem. That information usually lets us resolve things in one exchange rather than several.
